What are Robots?
Robots are automated machines that can take the place of humans in dangerous environments or manufacturing processes, or resemble humans in appearance, behaviour, and or thoughts. They are programmed by humans to complete a single task, or be able to react to their environment and carry out pre-defined behaviour.
What will I learn?
Reading and writing C++ programming language
Develop creativity, logic and critical thinking
Discover exciting real world application of mathematics
Understanding of electrical circuits
Experiment with different mechanical approaches to robotics
Gain the knowledge to kick-start your own projects at home
First we get hands on with some simple robots to see the possible applications. Participants work in small groups using servo motors to build a simple robot controlled through a remote controller. Participants are given challenges their robots need to overcome, such as moving objects around, complete an obstacle course or battle other robots in an arena. Participants then study the code used to control their robots and design their own code to create a complex series of instructions for the robot to follow. We then experiment with adding electrical components to our robots to enhance their functionally.
